Low Hums x House of Cannabis: Psychedelic Magic in a Private Warehouse Session

Cold and a little rainy, it was the kind of gray March afternoon that makes music feel even warmer. Low Hums, the Seattle-based psych rock powerhouse, arrived at a private performance and recording space operated by the House of Cannabis group in Tacoma for what would become an unforgettable mid-March session. With a handful of close collaborators and off-duty musicians in tow, the band unloaded their gear into a corner bay of a converted warehouse, transformed for the day into a psychedelic soundstage.

Before the first cable was run or mic stand adjusted, a “safety meeting” was held, as is custom in our world—because nothing sets the tone for creativity quite like a shared moment of chill. From there, the band and crew got to work building a temporary temple of sound: drums, percussion, guitars, bass, and vocals all carefully mic’d, patched, and sound-checked.

Over the next two hours, we captured something special. Two roaming cameras, three stationary shots, and a full multi-track audio rig documented a blistering, intimate set that included crowd favorites like “Sugar Cube,” “Peyote Gunfight,” “When the Stardust Breaks the Spell,” “Sub-Mission,” and “Cosmic Fruit.” Between takes, the team diagnosed a few issues, made adjustments on the fly, and kept the energy rolling.

What you’ll see in the final product is the result of weeks of side work by HoC staffers David and Kevin, a passionate volunteer, and a ton of talent, both behind and in front of the camera. This was a grassroots production through and through—using personal gear, borrowed equipment, and pure creative grit.

Everything was filmed in HD. For an entirely in-house operation, we believe the quality of the final videos is truly unparalleled in our scene—and we’re incredibly proud of what we pulled off with a DIY spirit and a whole lot of heart.
